Our Story

The Fuda Family, Vincenzo and Maria Fuda emigrated from Calabria southern Italy in 1953 then moved to Toronto, Canada in 1957 entering into the retail business. With each success they opened several retail outlets in the Toronto region.

In 1967 they continued to prosper, Vincenzo and Maria along with their children decide to move and open an outlet “Fuda Foods” in Oro Medonte.  Fuda Foods expanded to 48,000 square feet and served the area for 25 years.

In 1971 Rocco Fuda weds Rita and they begin a family of their own.  In 1972 Rocco and Rita proudly begin working together and make “Fuda Foods” and Oro Medonte off of HWY 11 their home. After 21 years of hard work and raising five beautiful children they sell the business and move to Barrie, Ontario.

Coming both Rocco and Rita from a strong traditional Mediterranean upbringing they decide together to open the “Italian Bakery”.  Their hard work and new home now offers the site and smells of their traditional home Calabria. Here at the Italian Bakery you can find culinary delicacies, family customary meals and groceries found in Italy.
